If there’s one thing Lynn Williams has learned about FBC Gainesville, it’s this: every time she thinks her chapter here is closing, God opens another door. Lynn first joined our staff in the fall of 2006 as the Associate Pastor for Families, and over the years she grew into the role of full-time Executive Pastor — a position she held until her retirement in 2021. But retirement didn’t last. When FBC entered a season of transition, Lynn answered the call to return as Church Administrator, helping steady the ship with the calm, faithful presence this congregation had come to depend on. And then God called her back again, this time to serve as our Senior Adult Pastor. At this point, we’re fairly certain God has no intention of letting Lynn leave.
Lynn’s ministry reach extends well beyond our walls. She has served in several area churches, including Parkview Baptist Church, Waldo Baptist Church, and Grace Baptist Church. On the state level, she served as President of the Florida Baptist Religious Education Association and as an ASSIST team leader for the local association. She holds a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and her years of training and experience have produced a pastor whose wisdom, warmth, and steady faith make her a trusted shepherd for our senior adults.
Lynn and her husband Bob are the parents of two adult children and the grandparents of four. When she does manage to find a free afternoon, Lynn enjoys nature walks, swimming, reading, quilting, and — above all — spending time with her family. Her story at FBC is one of faithful return, and we are so grateful that every road keeps leading her back home to us.
